Database Analyst
Summary of Responsibilities
Intermediate professional level role which provides database architectural design, development and support in multi-platform environments. Works on multiple projects as a team member and may lead projects of moderate complexity. May coach junior technical staff.
Essential Job Functions
* Responsible for gathering and assessing business information needs and preparing system requirements
* Performs analysis, development and evaluation of database application and reporting solutions, which includes data design, database architecture, metadata, and repository creation
* Uses database and data analysis tools
* Reviews and validates data loaded into the database for accuracy
* Interacts with the user community to produce reporting requirements
* Provides technical consulting to users of the various database application and reporting solutions; advises users on conflicts and inappropriate data usage
* Responsible for prototyping solutions, preparing test scripts, and conducting testing; for data replication, extraction, loading, cleansing, and modeling for database application and reporting solutions
* Maintains knowledge of software tools, languages, scripts, and shells that effectively support the database application and reporting solutions
* Possess working knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems and database front-end tools
* Must have an extensive knowledge of database application and reporting solutions
Experience and Educational Requirements
* Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered.
* 3 to 5 years of IT experience with large and complex database application development and reporting solutions.
* Must have good organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Must have the ability to set priorities, plan/organize and carry out assigned tasks in an efficient manner.
* Must have good team participation skills, tactical execution skills, problem solving/analysis skills and consulting skills.
